Description
An Eastern Rat Snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis), a non-venomous constrictor, that appears to be sneaking up on an adult Black-Crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax). If I had shot this at 50mm rather than 250mm, you would see the snake was the one being hunted. He did make it out alive, but he was surrounded by 4 Herons, they eat snakes, and he knew it. He was desperate to find his escape route. The birds must have had full stomachs, as they didn't seem to quick to pounce, and gave up rather easily.
